Dragon Ball Daima’s finale, the Oscars, and more new TV this week

It’s a quieter week in television — new television, anyway. You can easily watch Netflix’s new show Running Point from Mindy Kaling (which is always a pretty safe bet; Kaling has quite the resume in terms of solid sitcoms), all before the Dragon Ball Daima

finale on Friday.

Here are the best new TV premieres to watch this week.

Genre: Girl-power business comedy
Release date: Feb. 27, with all episodes
Showrunner/creator: Mindy Kaling
Cast: Kate Hudson, Justin Theroux, Brenda Song, and more

Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) grew up in a sports family — the illustrious (and fake) Los Angeles Waves — but was never taken quite as seriously as her brothers. But then, when her golden older brother lands in a bit of hot water, he gives the team to her. Does she have the chops to run a basketball team and help them win their season?

Genre: Award show (Oscars)
Release date: March 2 at 7 p.m. EST (3:30 p.m. EST for the Red Carpet)
Host: Conan O’Brien

It’s the biggest night of the year in movies. The Oscars are being handed out. Will genre fare like Dune: Part Two and The Substance win out?

Most importantly: Will we have a good time watching a three-hour telecast? The answer to that one is hopefully yes — while it’s Conan O’Brien’s first time hosting the Oscars, the man has done quite a few good hosting gigs with the Emmys and the White House Correspondents’ dinner back in the day.

Genre: Dragon Ball
Release date: Feb. 28
Showrunner/creator: Akira Toriyama

We’ve done it: We’ve reached the end of Dragon Ball Daima. As always, it’s a little bittersweet to reach the end of something when the journey has been so fun. But Daima, the final project from Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, will have a special air of mourning to it. What will happen to Goku and pals now?
